Implanting Penile Prosthesis for Erection Problems
An implantable prosthesis called a penile implant is often the last resort for men with an inability to achieve a good erection due to being overweight and having high blood pressure. Penile implants come in many different styles; however, the majority of implants will typically consist of two cylinders inserted into the shaft of the penis through small incisions at either end. Once surgeons have implanted the device, they will then be able to pull on a tube to fill the cylinders with a saline solution. When filling enough liquid from the surrounding tissues into these devices, both men and women should expect to see improvements in sexual function and satisfaction.
Through continued use of a penile implant, men can gain a greater level of confidence about their sexual abilities as long as proper training and follow-up appointments occur following implantation, therefore improving the overall quality of life.
