Hughes developed this superhero parody for Penthouse magazine's quasi-Underground Comix spinoff. The concept casts a novice named Joey Pike in the inherited role of Captain Adventure -- which had originated with his father, according to the back-story. Here, the new Captain Adventure asserts his birthright amidst a tangle of female villains. A background figure represents an element of suggested nudity: It is a Penthouse production, after all (the selection predates by four years Hughes' breakthrough to a four-year run as cover artist on DC Comics' Wonder Woman).
