Cooling Summer Peppermint Mask
Article source: http://www.humblebeeandme.com/cooling-summer-peppermint-mask/
It’s my birthday! Yay! I’m spending it at one of my favourite places—our family cottage in Manitoba. To celebrate, I will be laying in the sun, reading a good book, drinking some beer, doing dock yoga, and eating awesome chocolate cake. And, to celebrate, I wanted to share this fun face mask, designed for warm weather (which I love more than anything). It’s cool and warm and tingly, and I feel like it’s a great thing to share today since I’m super passionate about face masks—they are awesome, and have totally revolutionized my skin care.
The first time I made this mask I overdid it with the peppermint a bit… whoops. So, I sat there for 20 minutes with my eyes watering and my nose running as all the menthol drifted up my nose and towards my eyes. It was a beautiful sight. After I washed my face I looked like I’d just watched Les Mis, what with my swollen nose and red eyes. So, seriously, don’t amp up the amount of peppermint, at least not until you’ve tried it as written first.
In addition to being great for cooling your face down on a hot day, this mask is great for minor sunburns. Don’t put it on anything that is peeling or blistering, but if your skin is at the red and warm state, this mask is kind of like an essential oil ice pack, and since it helps increase blood circulation as well, it should help the burn heal faster.
Cooling Summer Peppermint Mask
1 tbsp French green clay 1 tbsp rhassoul clay Pinch vitamin C powder
2–3 drops peppermint essential oil (no more! Seriously!) 2 drops ginger essential oil 2 drops patchouli essential oil 2 drops lavender essential oil 5 drops jojoba oil
Aloe vera juice, as needed
Stir together the clays and vitamin C powder. Add the essential oils and oil, and then slowly add aloe vera juice until you have a thick, smooth paste.
Spread the mask on your face and let dry, enjoying the cooling sensation.
With the help of some green clay and peppermint oil, you, too, can look this sophisticated!
