NOW AT @michaelreidberlin: We are pleased to present a new work from Regina Pilawuk Wilson @michaelreidberlin. For a catalogue with more details, please email Berlin Manager: [email protected] Regina Pilawuk Wilson is a skilled weaver and painter, and one of the founding members of the Peppimenarti community near Darwin, Australia (language group Ngangikurrungurr). Regina's paintings are often based on the stitch and weave of the syaw (fish net) – the net used to gather fish, prawns and other seafood, made from the pinbin vine (bush vine), stripped into fibre and woven as a net. This practice extends upon the extensive array of weaving and stitching designs taught to her by her maternal grandmother. She took up painting in the 1990s, continuing as a fine weaver of the unique string warrgarri (dilly bags) and other weavings from whose technique she has adapted her finely lined paintings. #reginawilson #ReginaPilawukWilson #ngangikurrungurr #peppimenarti #michaelreidsydney #michaelreidberlin (at Michael Reid Berlin) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByJNWJ4gHSA/?igshid=h2unlxvz4lol
