there are many ways in which Riley is a shitty person in “as you were” completely separate from relationship stuff. two points in particular stand out to me: 1) Buffy referencing herself dying and him not following up on that comment at all 2) him going to her house and seeing all the friends and family but not Joyce - who was very ill last he knew - and not commenting on that at all either. that’s not even boyfriend stuff, that’s just basic decency and he can’t even manage it.
