Stuff About Lantens (Peralwey World Stuff)
Lantens are sentients that are made entirely of soul. They exist in various places around the world and do not have a clear place of origin. They are born underneath or around plants from excess loose magic that accumulates around them. They are made of that energy.
They are capable of instinctually surviving on their own upon being born, and look to be approximately the age of a 4 year old child upon being born. They do not appear to age for approximately 4 years and then age normally after that. They are born wearing a white dress
If a lanten is killed, they do not leave behind a body, they leave behind a dusty substance the colour of their soul called "soul residue" - However if they are killed before a certain age, it will cause an explosion because of the amount of energy they contain.
Lantens have diurnal sleep cycles and are carnivores. They reach adulthood at 18 years old. They are humanoid, they have "wooden" (human) skintones, and round ears
Strengths and Weaknesses
Lantens are extremely powerful magic users who are capable of using 1 of the 3 forms of natural magic. Their skin is like a shell casing that holds their soul, so their skin is not easy to cut or puncture. You could run a knife along their skin and it would not cut them. They are fairly physically weak due to not having muscles like a species made of flesh would. Lantens are also extremely susceptible to magical attacks, especially attacks using soul magic. Due to their skin being a shell, if you do manage to cut or puncture their skin, this will cause their soul to leak out. Their blood is not able to clot in the same way most other animals and sentients can, so if they go too long without magically healing themselves (either through a potion or by using soul magic) they will die no matter how small the wound is. Lantens are also incapable of controlling loose magic.
Siblings
Lantens will be magically connected to 1-4 other lantens upon being born. They each be born approximately a year apart from each other, and will instinctually begin searching for each other once the oldest turns 13
Middle Names
Upon being born, a lanten will be gifted a name by Extraevia (the world's god) that is completely unique to them. Siblings will refer to each other by their middle name. This name will be formatted like "Lee-(Middle Name)"
Hair and Races
Lantens have colourful hair compared to other species of sentients. The reason for this is because their hair is an organ that stores their magic. Cutting their hair will injure them and also make them sick and cause them to vomit. The colour of their hair determines their race, as well as the type of natural magic they can do
- Grania lantens can do gravity magic and have high control over gravity magic but are fairly weak gravity magic users. They have pink hair, and yellow or red eyes.
- Levian lantens are powerful gravity magic users but have less control over their magic than grania lantens do. They have light blue or teal hair, and they have blue or purple eyes
- Shiffen lantens are able to do true shifting magic and have light green hair and green or blue eyes. Shiffen lantens are very uncommon and they are not well-known but people are aware of their existence
- Coy lantens are able to do soul magic and they have darker varients of all of these hair colours (red hair, yellow or red eyes, navy hair, blue or purple eyes, dark green hair, green or blue eyes)
- Hybrid lantens are able to do 2 types of natural magic, 1 fully and 1 partially. They will have a combination of two of the above hair colours. Hybrids are incredibly rare and most people don't know they exist
