The psat is the preliminary statistics aptitude test in America that quizzes you on information that you should've learned by your junior year (3rd year of high school) it has 3 major categories; reading, math, and writing. The scores only really matter if you are a junior but you can take them in the first or second year of high school. If you have a score of 200 or higher you are eligible for a national merit scholarship. This is a lot of money and helps out with college rates.
