The Point of Albers
So I recemonded Interaction of Color the other day and since I did that I realized it had been too long since I had read it and that last time I read it I didn't understand all of it, sooo I started reading it again. And it's started me thinking about the deception of depth through color vs actual depth. If the idea is to create a UI that works in 3D why would I care about color depth. And then I realized thats just stupid because one, this UI is meant to be as responsive as possible, its to work in both 2 and 3 dimensional space. And while in 3D space you don't need to trick depth in 2D sometimes you do and maybe color is a form of continuity that could be used? Second, I haven't done any type of actual testing maybe a color works as a form of depth conformation, giving users a type of visual comfort through consistency. Thirdly, I haven't actually gotten that far through the book but I am understanding more which means I'm proabably still missing a bunch.
