Heya, what is your opinion of Harry Potter? Personally, I honestly didn’t care much for the movies since I saw them years ago and even then it was just for fun, but... what? I had no idea that Rowling made such a disaster of a book series after seeing the plot holes and controversies. So anyway, while I like it just as much as Percy Jackson (don’t care much for either), I like the worldbuilding just enough, but prefer fantastic beasts (guess I didn't like the kid heroes...? Harry is good though)
Back in the day, I was a light fan. I didn't read the books, books in general are hard for me to read as I don't exactly have the attention span for them. I can take a break and next thing I know it's been 6 months since I read it last... at least for some cases, sometimes it's years. So I stuck to the movies as visual media keeps my attention better, and read a fic here and there for HP. I liked it enough, though it wasn't my favorite movie series.
It just didn't meet all my preferences as I like focus spread out amongst characters instead of largely staying on one (I know it's the point as Harry is the focus, but it's not my preference of storytelling, at most I make exceptions for fics). I wish we got more focus on the houses and didn't go ALL SLYTHERIN EVIL!!! People are more complex than that.
For plotholes and writing issues, I couldn't say as I only worked off the movies and didn't read the books, and the movies I don't remember everything. Honestly some of them blended together for me. Only thing I can think of that I didn't like was Hermione and Ron getting together (Ron I didn't like as a character though I hear he's better in the books), and Harry and Ginny felt random and weird as I saw him as an honorary Weasley. Practically another son and brother, which by default made her a little sister. Movie wise, that couple wasn't easy to roll with as I had that view for a while.
On Percy Jackson, I did actually read the books, at least the Olympians. I tried reading the sequel series with Roman gods and the one with Egyptian gods, I just couldn't get into those. So PJ I actually enjoyed, but I'll never be rereading those books. I can't stand first person point of view, and had kept reading because a friend was super into them and they did get enjoyable. But I just couldn't go back.
And I will say, maybe it's because I am better with visuals, but I can hardly remember anything from the PJ series. All I know is that I did laugh a few times, but it wasn't a series that stuck with me. Maybe the Disney + will be better for me.
As for Fantastic Beasts, I lost interest when I heard it wasn't a fun documentary movie for HP mythical creatures. So I haven't watched it at all.
