✽ with Percy
✽ a break in
The living room was a complete tip, but it usually was during one of their marathon sleepovers. This was Percy’s second day at Colin’s home and they’d already had the double mattress in every corner of the living room, to try out all the different spots they could sit in and sleep in, at night. And, of course, the television had made the trips along with the mattress, as they had been watching one movie after the other.
It was five o’clock in the morning and they were finally falling asleep, when a strange noise woke Colin, who hadn’t really fallen asleep yet, despite his exhaustion. At first he thought he might have dreamt it, but when it happened a second time he was certain it was real. A soft clicking noise came from the other side of the door.
"Percy," Colin said, suddenly alerted to what exactly that noise meant. “I think someone’s trying to break into the house."
"What?" Percy asked, sounding tired and obviously not sure what Colin was talking about. Who expected something like this to happen, anyway?
"The door, someone’s trying to break in," Colin said again, not daring to raise his voice as he was afraid what would happen if whoever was trying to get in would hear them. He’d probably just go away, but right now Colin wasn’t sure how these things worked.
"Are you sure?" Percy asked, right when another click sounded, followed by soft scraping and fidgeting around. That had Percy awake too, but neither one of them dared to get up. Right when Colin was about to ask what it was they were going to do about it, the door creaked open. Instantly the two were up and backing away, but not after Percy had thrown a pillow at the door. From the other side they heard a shocked gasp and a moment later footsteps were rushing down the driveway and off was their burglar.
Percy and Colin eyed each other in shock, not quite ready to laugh about it yet. But after a moment Percy broke the silence.
"Well, at least you can check that from your bucket list."
