Waking up with no recollection of the few nights previous was not a strange occurrence for Jimmy Hopkins. His eye’s were bloodshot, his head was thumping, his mouth felt like worn carpet. Waking up next to a mop of hair, again, was not out of the ordinary. He grabbed the half-finished vodka on the bedside table and sat up. His watch told him he was missing two days; a cocaine daze filling his head head, his heart still thumping irregularly. “Jesus fucking Christ.” He muttered. He was as naked as the day he was born. He stumbled out of bed. It wasn’t strange for him to wake up somewhere he didn’t recognize. He figured that this was a hotel room, a penthouse suite obviously. The sun seemed so bright, so inescapable in the open room, glass panels across the bedroom wall allowed the disgusting light to spew all over the room. He leaned against the window. The landscape wasn’t entirely unfamiliar, he managed to deduce he was in Vegas from the expanse of desert he could see off in the distance. All of the strangeness that had wriggled it’s way into his day-to-day life didn’t account for the ultimate strangeness. Something that sent a shiver down his spine and made his blood run cold. He always wore his wedding ring, he only ever took it off when he was fucking hookers -- he figured Zoe wouldn’t approve, but he wasn’t wearing just the one wedding ring anymore. He fiddled with the new ring with his thumb idly, his brain taking a few moments to catch up. Why was there a block of ice forming at his coccyx? He took a sip of his vodka. Was it simply the cocaine thinning his blood, causing it to freeze? No, this was a prospect far more terrifying. Matrimony.
“Oh! Oh, Jesus fucking Christ!” He yelped. “Hey!” He hurried to the bed, clapping his hands. “Hey! Wake up! Wake the fuck up!” The panic that took over him wasn’t one based out of fear of being married, no, he could deal with being married, but if he was wasted enough to marry someone, what else did he do?
