So I just wanted to share a little thing I wrote for my game last night, I just love evoking cryptic spooky imagery in my players' dreams 🥰🥰 Context: The dream is about a fallen angel who was cast out to the Material Plane after trying to ascend after fighting in a holy war.
The whirling slash of fire. You tighten your grip around the weapon's pommel. The glory of a well-aimed impact. The earthen beast shatters at your feet. There's a hundred more behind it, but they were no match for you. The grandeur of triumph. You look upon your and your allies' handiwork on the battlefield, scattered with the remains of Titans who wished to question the Divine. You smile, you briefly crumble, finally feeling the extent of your wounds, but you do smile. It was done. The winning of a war. The planes would never be the same but at least they were now protected. You wear your scars like a badge of honor, the pain was worth the victory. The pain was worth your ascension. A sensation of burning flesh. The Morning Sun places a hand on your shoulder, he would be the one to dole out your punishment. The others were too cowardice to look. A suffocation that steals the air from your lungs. You watch as the breath you did not have before falling escape you, rising up in bubbles. Is this what true terror feels like? A surrender to the earth. You didn't know such kindness could exist for a shattered soul like you. The earth you destroyed what feels like a lifetime ago now reclaims you. A near defeat. You couldn't let them win, even in your resignation you triumph, they wouldn't have the glory of taking your life. A betrayal. The scent of acrid blood on a finely sharpened blade stings your nose but brings you near euphoric joy. A fracturing of self. Did you even need to be whole in the first place?
