Review:

(POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHOY!) This extremely clever crossover explains why Khan looks so much like Sherlock.

I_ship_an_armada writes for both sets of characters extremely well, with carefully and fully developed characterizations and relationships for all. Her explanation of how Sherlock became Khan is utterly plausible in this universe, and offers strong motivation for everything he does. I love Sherlock and John’s relationship – so strong despite their changed circumstances, so strong that they will literally cross universes to be united.

The words that took my breath away:

Oh, oh God, he’d missed this. Not only the sexual connection, but the frisson of energy that flowed through his body every time he came in contact with John Watson, the ache he felt in his chest that didn’t hurt, but was more like the opening of a long closed door.

John was relief.

John was danger, the kind Sherlock craved.

John was home.

Sunday Sixish

From Perdition’s Flames, my Star Trek Into Darkness/Sherlock AU/fusion, which I got 25 kudos (after weeks of one or maybe none each day) yesterday and I don’t know why....

Nodding at Spock to answer the question, Jim let his first officer take the lead in the conversation for now. “We believe that Mr. Holmes was taken out of cryostasis for the purpose of doing the bidding of someone who wishes to exploit his particular talents.”

Watson blinked at him, and then his face broke into a grin, lighting his eyes as he began to laugh in earnest, a rusty sound, but filled with genuine amusement.

Spock’s eyebrows drew together in consternation. “I’m not sure what is amusing about that.”

“Oh,” Watson said, clearing his throat, his voice still raspy whilst trying to regain his composure. Once he got himself under control, he turned his glittering eyes on Kirk. “The day that Sherlock Holmes does the bidding of anyone but himself will be the day life as we know it ceases to exist.” He snorted. “Sherlock is the strongest willed person I have ever known. He does what he wants.”

Bones narrowed his eyes pointedly at Jim. “Sounds familiar.”

Sherlock only just kept from bouncing on his toes in his excitement. It was familiar in that he saw ribbons for each allele, the pattern of loci rising and falling in uneven waves. What was different was  each peak, once turned on its side, also had its own peaks and valleys of markers so that the entire hologram looked like an odd linear mountain range. “Each combination,” Sherlock pointed, unable to keep still,  “these formations are…” He sought for what would make sense out of what he saw. “These are differentiations on an atomic level. The genome, entirely mapped out,” he murmured, stunned and giddy. “Even when the scientists at Baskerville conducted their experiments, much of the time they were flying blind, though they liked to pretend otherwise. They only knew that if you added A to B, you got C.” He waved a hand at the holograms hovering in front of them. “This. This is the platform for ultimate genetic knowledge.” And engineering. Able to target a specific molecule and manipulate it...God, what could be done with that? The acid in his stomach turned hot and uncomfortable with sudden ferocity. Spock laid Sherlock’s DNA on its side, and Sherlock waited as it reorganized itself, colorful strips of points and dips that ascended and fell at varying heights. Three peaks rose above the rest, and a corresponding three in Spock’s lifted out of the sequence, all six glowing a soft red. “Genetic analysis of subjects complete.” “What is the probability of relation between the two subjects?” Spock’s eyes rose to Sherlock’s. The Vulcan was utterly still, a picture of control and patience. Not even a finger twitched. “Ninety-eight percent.”

This is from Perdition's Flames, my Treklock AU. 

John made an inarticulate sound, and the fingers still gripping Sherlock’s shirt pressed in painfully deep, a shudder rippling through his frame, except this time, it didn’t stop immediately. Instead, John moved his head to rest in the crook of Sherlock’s neck, and breathed deep in an obvious effort to rein in the emotions overwhelming him.

Sherlock narrowed his eyes at nothing, speaking through clenched teeth, anger gripping him like a vise. “Did they hurt you?” Two hundred years ago, the personnel of the Enterprise, it didn't matter who he referred to.

John didn’t answer for a moment, and Sherlock felt the tension within himself spiral dangerously close to fury as he read the answer in John’s silence.

Clearing his throat, but not lifting his head, John replied roughly, “Here, no. The others...The only thing that caused me any real pain was when they told me you were dead and I was the reason for it.”
