Spider-Verse #2
Miles is the only one in the multiverse who can find Annie May Parker and heal the Web of Life and Destiny in Spider-Verse #2. But as hes sets out into the multiverse, he has no idea where he will be landing next, or what he will find when he gets there. This trip lands him in the universe where Spider-Ma'am is May Parker. She, Ben and Peter work together in their version of New York. But as Peter starts to unravel the secrets of the multi-verse, so do evil versions of themselves. This is a very interesting mini-series. You get to see many different version of the web-slinger that you may not have thought of before. It is very much like the Exiles series, also from Marvel. But instead of mutants we get Spider-People. I'm not going to say I love it. I'd prefer a little more coherent story. But the ideas are thought provoking to say the least. So if you liked Into the Spider-Verse or you're just into all things Spider-Man, get this mini-series while its fresh.
Credits Writer: Ryan North Artist: Pere Perez Colors: Marte Gracia Letters: Joe Sabino Spider-Verse #2 We get a few pages of introduction into the Spider-Ma'am universe before Miles is introduced. Apparently in this version of Earth, May Parker is the one who is bitten by the radio active spider. In the introduction, it mentions that her decision to save tend to Peter instead of stopping a burglar ends with Ben being killed. After that, she vows to protect everyone, not just her genius nephew. But this particular story takes place before that with Ben still alive. This version of Peter begins to theorize that in an infinite multiverse, there are evil opposite versions of themselves. Just then, those opposite versions burst through a dimensional tear and attack. It's hard to say if the theories are true or not. If ever decision everyone makes spins another universe with opposite decisions made, then there is no end to the multiverse and no decision really matters. Or, if you believe May Parker, then every decision matters. Its all hard to really sit down and wrap your mind around.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #12
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #12 is the beginning of a new arc and it looks like this is about to get really exciting. Last issue gave us the Friendly Neighborhood Mary Jane. It was an awesome look in a day in her life. With the Helminth saga behind him, Spider-Man is now a target in a couple of assassination attempts. So he's going to need some help in finding out who is behind this. And he's going to get help from all over the neighborhood Credits and Thoughts This issue has some different art with Pere Perez and Tom Taylor continues to write. Taylor is absolutely brilliant again here. This is one of my favorite comics to read. We get the answer to the question as to if Tom Taylor is going to kill Spider-Man. Perez does a great job with the art as well. The action is drawn well with some cool spider-sense sequences. Each issue of this book just reinforces my love for this series.
Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #12 - *SPOILERS* First things first, no, Tom Taylor does not kill Spider-Man. At least not in this issue. But the world does think that he's dead. During a follow up appointment with May's doctor (its good news btw), Peter notices a boat fire. Struggling through his inability to define irony, the boat fire turns into an ambush. The news reports that Spider-Man didn't survive give Peter the time to formulate a plan to find the perpetrator. Once he does, he threatens to inject him with his Spider-Venom (which doesn't exist). Or he can give up information on the people who hired him. By pretending to be dead for a bit, and with a little help from NYPD Detective Sebbens, they find out that Under York is behind the attacks. For whatever reason the leader of the city under New York is trying to take out Spider-Man. And this was his third attempt. Detective Sebbens advises Spider-Man to lay low for a while, but Peter can't do that. Instead, he pays a visit to the Fantastic Four for help. I'm really excited about this new #comic series FAITH pubbed by Valiant. Finally we have a strong woman superhero in Faith Herbert who is overweight and not just a thin model-type for male raders - but is still beautiful and strong, who is not just punch and smash but talks and thinks things through, who is emotionally vulnerable and feels real, who makes mistakes and tries to do the right thing. The writing by Jody Houser is strong and fresh and has depth; it sucked me right in, and the art by Pere Pérez is beautiful. FAITH feels rich and interesting. I love that Faith loves reading and is geeky (she plays something like D&D), has a job writing content for a website, has a few people who know her secret identity, and has some diverse friends who aren't perfect. It reminds me of the comic series Invincible and the TV series Supergirl; both also have depth, fantastic writing and art (or acting), make us root for and care about the character and believe in them. I just picked this issue up in a comic store, and am going to order the trade paperback that comes before this, as well as the next issues. Highly recommended! #strongfemalerolemodels #strongwoman #strongfemaleheroes #faith #Valiant #jodyhouser #pereperez #comics #comicgeek #comicnerd #bookworm #bookish #booknerdigans #bookstagram #comic
