do you think it would be good as a pre-grilling bratwurst soak?

It’s tough to say -- I’ve never made beer brats and rarely eaten them, because I don’t normally like the taste of beer. This one is VERY much the exception to the rule and makes me wonder if I shouldn’t be trying more light craft beers. 

In my extremely limited experience, I would compare it to Dos Equis in terms of lightness and flavor; it’s extremely easy on the tongue, but it has a savory finish instead of the sweet finish Dos Equis has. Speaking theoretically I think it would probably be too light -- you want a pretty strong beer for a brat, yes? 

I really think this is more of a drinking beer -- I don’t think you’ll get that hit of mustard unless the beer is what’s touching your palate. But I DO think it would make a GREAT drinking beer to pair with brats, especially if you’re eating them with a nice mustard.

Sam, the Iglesia ni Cristo sect in the Philippines has very strict tithing and a huge budget for chapel maintenance because they believe that when the time comes they will all get in the church and the building itself will literally rise up to heaven with them in it

Oh neat! I mean. Kinda culty sounding so maybe not neat, but conceptually neat. And I suppose they’re employing a lot of construction workers, so there’s that. :D

I did not get the alien part. Just an eldrich, but earthborn, diety.

I mean, it’s not really vital to the story whether it is or isn’t alien, so I kind of leave that up to the reader :D

spam?? the fact that you were inspired enough to make art is basically the PINNACLE OF HAPPINESS for me as a fic writer, so never apologise for it.

but I know how it goes with creative insecurity and the little ratty voice of suckitude that insists on being heard no matter what. I hope I can help it to be quiet for at least a few minutes by telling you how much I appreciate and admire your work!

Oh wise @copperbadge -- What are your thoughts about rewriting old stories, in terms of posting them? Do you leave the original as-is and post a new version? Maybe as a transformative work of the original? Or do you edit the original (possibly upsetting people who may love every word)? Thoughts?   Thanks!

I haven’t done a ton of extensive rewrites, and usually if I did it was on a WIP. I kind of feel like once a fic is finished, it’s okay to let it go. Especially if someone has podficced it, I’m reluctant to alter it, because then the podficcer has to deal with that or not, as the case may be.

On the rare occasions I’ve done significant overhaul, usually I’ve posted the revised verison to AO3 with notes saying “Here are some changes I made”. If I were going to keep both up, I’d probably rename the first one as “Old Draft” and the new one as “Revised version”, the same way they do with textbooks.

Sam this is SO GOOD. Your Remus and Sirius are my favourite because they are ADULTS, not aged-up Marauders, and they may be mischievous and impulsive but they think and they care so, so much. Can’t wait to see what you do with one of my all time favourite fics

Thanks! That’s actually a huge part of a discussion they have right before Dumbledore arrives -- Sirius is like “He’s expecting me to shout and you to be the obedient prefect, but he hasn’t seen us in about seven years and we’ve both done some growing-up. Let’s use that.”

I am SO EXCITED. This was the fic that led to us first speaking, lo those many moons ago, and I was always sad that you didn't finish it - but I also really understood why, given everything that happened in canon.

Yeah, it is exciting to revisit it, I just hope I can keep the momentum going. Stealing Harry was such a formative event in my mid-twenties, it’s fun to look back on it. And it’s still a very comforting story to me.

Yeah, but we have to say jackalopes aren’t real to keep hunters from tracking them. Same strategy, opposite goals! If the jackalope isn’t real, is there any point in bringing a rifle to New Mexico?

Tan Twan Eng sounds amazing! I’d just heard of him; my friend recommended The Garden of Evening Mists but I might want to read this instead, the way I picked The Intuitionist over Underground Railroad.

I read the Garden of Evening Mists a couple of years ago and loved it. I'd been meaning to track down the Gift of Rain ever since and finally got around to it. They're both kind of similar books, I feel The Garden of Evening Mists is subtler and more refined and has a smaller focus, but it makes sense given Rain was his first novel. Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.
