sorry to everyone who doesn't follow DWR but i need to talk about mai for a second because i'm thinking about her and katara and their perfect friendship AND BELIEVE ME IT'S A PERFECT FUCKING FRIENDSHIP THAT IS ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER

SEE OKAY THE THING ABOUT MAI IS THAT IT'S NOT THAT SHE DOESN'T HAVE EMOTIONS IT'S THAT SHE HAS AN IRON FUCKING GRIP ON HER EMOTIONS and like katara is so consistently free with her emotion (although this isn't always a good thing tbh she has a hard time controlling her anger) and like they work so perfectly as foils for one another because they're so totally opposite and yet so totally the same. like??? no matter what happens, they both protect their own, but they're both really damaged by their respective upbringings in a lot of ways--they were both oppressed and then they both fought that oppression by becoming the MOST DANGEROUS LADIES EVER LIKE???

and idk i just really like the idea of these two girls who've fought on opposite sides of a war that's affected the world for a hundred years ending up being best friends who spend whole afternoons sitting in the sun and talking about how great they are bc they are so great also zuko's whole MY EX-GIRLFRIEND IS STALKING MY CURRENT GIRLFRIEND thing is hilarious and mai and katara are like excuse you get out we're having a ladies day you need to leave

I've had this unfinished pic lying on my desktop for a month and it's bumming me out because I REALLY wanted to finish it. Sadly it's gotten to the point where the proportions and perspective and STYLE is just driving me nuts.. So I just finished up the sketch. I do plan on redrawing it in the future since I wanted it as my background - Fav kid and fav troll hell yeah.
