Another perfect landing. I stopped traffic when I bent down to snap this on a grate that was easily run over by cars but that had not happened yet; at least not at this precise location of this tube of blue goo that was too fat to fit all the way through the opening. Funny since while out we were laughing and fearing dropping our cell phones and wondered if there was a perfect landing of a cell phone drop, would it fall through the grates? And if it did, would we be able to retrieve it? Or would it get stuck like this fortunate or unfortunate item?

Out and about on a Sunday early afternoon there was lots of garbage on the streets and sidewalks that never made it on to the trucks. On Bowery this raw piece of fresh chicken had tumbled over to the street. I like the way it landed.

A Perfect Landing

As I climbed the stairs to exit at Varick and 6th Ave, this yellow square of candy caught my eye. I got to the top of the stairs and quickly returned back down to take its photo. I thought about how it fell from someone’s hand, how it landed so perfectly on its side and how easily it could have been knocked over by so many on their way out from the subway. It lined up with the tiles and the bright yellow wrapper provided a nice contrast of color with the greys from the tiles and stone.
