Perfect trust.
Ever seen a parent help their child to walk?
It boils down to one word: encouragement
All aids are to spur the child on to move a step, then the next then another
Wobbly at first, the child into loving eyes and arms takes the first step
Should the child fall, they are picked up, dusted and put back up to take another step under the watchful gaze of their parent
Such was the case not of a child on this occasion but of a man
Bid he come the caller urged on fluid blue pathway not travelled before
At the word of the caller, the man to the former walked
Untried. Untested. Unfamiliar.
The man took his initial step just like the little ‘un, then the next…
Until the man took his eyes off the caller and looked at the seemingly frightening surroundings
Until the child, the loving gaze obscured by the threat of a fall
Yet in all this, the parent with one swoop to the child’s aid should it be needed
The caller, his hand not short catches the man and steadies him
The caller will not suffer thy foot to be moved
Pause.
