FRIENDSHIP OVER LOVE

CHAPTER 1

I always listen to my favorite song called "Paano na kaya?" by Bugoy Drilon in YouTube. I dedicated this song to my one only girl "Sophia" but the problem is that my friend also love her that's why we are enemies.

As I entered my classroom, Sorry Ma’am, I'm late again!

Mr. Gomez de Liaño, how many times I told you not be late again. I will mark you late this time!! Don't do this again as she shouted.

I directly go to my sit and find Sophia happy listening to our subject. I was happy because my rival is absent because he had stomach ache and he was drunk and I will never forget how Dwayne and Sophia will end up in a fixed marriage by their own parents because they are childhood sweethearts in the past. Dwayne told that to me when we are still friends before but now, I don’t think so.

*Flashbacks*

Mr. and Mrs. Yapchengo, I want to have a fixed marriage to your son Dwayne to my beautiful daughter Sophia because I believe that they are the best for each other and Sophia likes Dwayne. “Excuse me, Mr and Mrs. Harrison I think I should talk about it to my son first before you decide because my son feelings are important to me” Mr. Yapchengo said in a warning tone. After a month passed, Dwayne decided to court Sophia but she no longer wanted to be with Dwayne because she is focusing now in her studies. Until Sophia met me in her colleague.

*End of Flashbacks*

One night while I’m doing my homework’s at my room, I saw in my window that Dwayne is in the house of Sophia, I don’t know but I felt jealous because I know that Sophia will choose me over him, so I went out to check what happening there.

“Sophia please give me a second chance to be with you, I will do everything just to be with me.” Dwayne said it with begging voice. As I hide behind the tree listening to their conversations. “Dwayne stops this nonsense! I’m studying for our lesson tomorrow. I don’t want to have boyfriend first! And she slams the door leaving Dwayne shocked of what she did.

From what I hear from Sophia, I felt sad because of what she said. And I went back to my room and finish my activities.

At the hallway, while I’m getting my things in my locker room to change my clothes into basketball uniform because I decided to play in our court to relieve stress running around in my mind. When I enter the court, I saw Sophia sleeping there and I don’t have idea what she is sleeping so I sat beside her than playing basketball. Her looks are so very beautiful and calmly sleeping in the middle of our free time. I took a picture of her sleeping to have a remembrance when we graduate. I was thinking to still court her even she said that she wants to focus on her studies first. Anyway, I’ll try to convince her it might change her mind.

CHAPTER 2

During our lunch time, I saw Sophia eating her lunch with her friends and I have a idea to give her an orange juice when her friends screamed out of nowhere then Sophia got shy. After the lunch we went back to our room and wait for our next teacher.

When the class ended, I immediately ran to Sophia to get her things to help her to bring it, she said that she will straight go home because we have many activities still not yet done. As we walk home, we just talk about our future schools then she talks about that she really doesn’t want to have boyfriend because it might affect her studies so while I listened, I felt pain because she really focuses on her goals while me, I’m still trying to convince her. When we are here now In front of her gate, I said goodbye right away then left her.

In my room when I am now in my bed, many thoughts come to my mind if I will continue it or stop it already, then I think also Dwayne to stop pursuing Sophia because it might hurt him too. I text Dwayne to see me in his garden tomorrow morning.

I wake up too early just to be there in Dwayne’s Garden so that he will not be irritated if he sees that I’m not still there. I talk to him that we should stop courting Sophia because she might get just reject us and also it is best for us also to not get hurt. But still Dwayne didn’t want to listen to me and he still continuing courting her.

After we talked, I just went straight to my house to get rest then suddenly I received a text from Sophia that she wants to meet us in the our carinderia where we eat our favorite food when we are at the age of high school.

I came first but they are not still here so I waited 30 minutes then I saw Sophia wearing simple dress along with Dwayne wearing sando and short. She just asks how we been doing lately then she directly tells us that she appreciates all the things we did for her but she already decided not to have a boyfriend first because she wants to finish her studies, her parents may disappoint at her if she failed. Also, she didn’t pick either of us between Dwayne. I understand her but I don’t think so about Dwayne because he is so very stubborn when it came to love. After a while, Dwayne just sinks in to his mind that it is already done, he did his best to choose but Sophia decision is all matter for us. After Sophia left us, we talk also about for being enemies. After a while Dwayne and I became friends again and we forgive each other and about being rival to Sophia. We think our friendship with her than each of us may get hurt just for love.

Mind Map About the Impacts of MIL on an Individual and Society

     For this performance task, we were assigned to create a mind map showing the Impacts of MIL on an Individual and Society, and for this performance task, I made a mind map with pop-ups to indicate important points and concepts in the mind map, and different colors for each impact to see the inter-relatedness of each other and how they are connected to one another. I mainly focused on the positive impacts of MIL and based on the research that I made about them, I learned that MIL is a useful tool in our day and age. For instance, in one of the studies, it was mentioned that through MIL, children are more knowledgeable about the lives that their OFW parents, their jobs and the lives they live; the same goes for their parents to their children, too.
