Euphoria's Elegy- a perfume blend
this is a recipe for an essential oil blend for using in bath products, oil warmers, and in oil-based perfumes.
This perfume blend evokes burgundy velvet and torn fishnets, high heels discarded at the door, smeared eyeliner, and lazily drifting incense. A late-night, home after last call scent, sultry and heavy with prickly spice that slowly fades into sweetness like the memory of clove cigarettes on your lover's lips. Languid, tipsy, and relaxing.
1 drop rose absolute (rosa damascena)
3 drops frankincense essential oil (boswellia serrata)
3 drops black pepper essential oil (piper nigrum)
2 drops clove bud essential oil (syzygium aromaticum)
1 drop vetiver essential oil (vetiveria zizanioides)
Notes:
Wet: Forward spice immediately, clove dominant with nuance from the pepper sharpness and frankincense sweetness. Rose follows quickly, blending into something dizzying and rich.
Dry: Rose loses its aggression and most of the spice is gone, leaving behind complex woody-incense notes and the dark earthiness of the vetiver.
Warnings and Substitutions:
Egyptian Geranium or Rose Geranium oil can be substituted for the Rose Absolute (Geranium a higher concentration than, 2 to 1 or 3 to 1) but it will lighten the scent and add some grassy notes. Not unpleasant. Just different.
You may wish to double the Rose Absolute if yours isn't coming through. Mine is very strong, and rose on my skin is even stronger, so just use your nose and preferences as a guide!
You may wish to double the vetiver if you'd like it darker and earthier.
I use small glass vials for my oil perfumes, and cut them with sweet almond oil, but there are many other suitable carrier oils out there.
Don't apply undiluted essential oil to your skin. Please.
Not a food-safe blend.
