“In doing preliminary research into these various categories… I’m not certain it’s wise to apply any of them to myself. These categories are loosely defined at best and all rely on human cultural context. Many of these categories make reference to human gender roles, which cannot apply to a gem. I find these categories to be distressingly limited and do not wish to assign myself any of these predefined roles. Many of these categories also make reference to the sexual roles, and there is no sexual role I would like to remain within at all times.”
“How strange it is to me that Earth is a planet I associate with freedom and a desire to escape predefined roles, and yet… Humans in actuality are often very eager to categorize themselves and socialize one another to remain within designated social roles…. As much as I enjoy Earth, I find myself glad I am not a human and am not expected to follow any of this social order. It seems nonsensical and stressful. At least gems had the sense to clearly define our roles. Human roles are so unclear, and yet I am also under the impression there is an expectation one follows these roles strictly…. Despite the clearly undefined regulations of these roles….”
“……If I were wishing to infiltrate these Gay Spaces, I may adopt some of these terms in an attempt to better relate to the experiences of the homosexuals. Though the term Lesbian does not exist among gems as we are all understood to be female, I do not believe it is inappropriate if I utilized this term in reference to myself. The subcategories I would have to give far more thought on before choosing to adopt one… But again, I would likely refuse to do so, as I find them all quite limiting.”
“This may have been a lengthy response, but I am still learning the culture of this planet and give careful thought to my understanding of this world. If any Earth Natives have any insights, feel free to offer them accordingly. I feel multiple perspectives are more useful in research and it may be wise to expand my sources rather than speaking to only a select few Earth natives. I have been informed certain questions are apparently considered inappropriate to ask Steven.”
