Spot On Redesign: What’s new?
We’re thrilled to announce that we’re rolling out a fresh redesign of Spot On for iOS and Android! This includes exciting new features and improvements for existing features. We’ve been hard at work incorporating your feedback to make sure you’re got everything you need to track both your period and any birth control method that affects it, including the pill, patch, ring, implant, shot, and IUD.
You can still track your Mood, Body, and Activities in the Home section, or in the Calendar, by tapping on the day you want to log, and tapping the “+” sign to open up the full Action Panel.
Your Home view also includes a mini-content feed! We’ve handpicked the best content from Planned Parenthood and trusted partners to help you navigate your period, cycle, and birth control.
New and improved Calendar, including the ability to easily add months of past period data using the “Edit Period” function.
Expanded Resources section, including new information about sexually transmitted infections, abortion, gender identity, sex, health exams, and more.
New and Improved, and Highly Requested Features
User Accounts: For the first time, Spot On now has user accounts. Previously, you were able to save data through iCloud or Google Drive. When you update your app, your data will sync from iCloud or Google Drive, and you’ll be prompted to create your first-ever Spot On user account. With this account, you can easily transfer data between devices, log out and log back in for privacy reasons, and most importantly, never worry about the safety of your data.
More birth control tracking:
If you’re a Pill user, you can now track continuously (you never take a break for your period), non-continuously (you always take a break for your period), and custom-continuous (you sometimes take a break for your period, on a set schedule).
If you’re a Ring user, you can track on a variety of schedules: changing every 3, 4, or 5 weeks, or monthly on a specific date. You can also let Spot On know if you use continuously or noncontinuously.
And of course, expert advice if you make a mistake on your method and need help catching up.
Even more reminders than before, including reminders for upcoming fertility windows, and personalized birth control reminders. All on your schedule, and very discreet.
As long as you are opted in to Automatic Save (on iOS or Android), your Spot On data should seamlessly transfer to the redesign once you update the app. If you haven’t updated to the new app and want to ensure that you’re opted in, please check the following:
Open the app, and navigate to Profile
Tap on the Settings cog in the upper right corner
Tap “Automatically Save My Data”
Ensure that “Turn on Automatic Save” is toggled to ON
If you’re interested in manually exporting a copy of your data just in case, you can follow these steps below:
Go to the 'Profile' tab in Spot On
Tap on the 'Settings' cog in the upper right hand corner
Tap 'Export My Spot On Data'
Email your data file to yourself
Spot On maintains its commitment to a nonjudgmental and inclusive period and birth control tracking experience — meaning the app will never make an assumption about you, your gender identity, your sexual orientation, whether or not you’re using birth control, your reasons for using birth control, your reproductive goals, or otherwise.
Spot On is brought to you by the experts at Planned Parenthood, the leading provider of sex education in this country for over 100 years. We created this app for educational purposes: to help our users navigate the complexities of their periods, cycles, and birth control. Your data will never be sold, and you’ll never find any ads in the app.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or anything at all to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out by emailing [email protected].
We hope you love it as much as we do!
-Hannah at Planned Parenthood
