Product Spotlight: Korean Period Hot Patch
So basically what happened was that last Sunday, I went to Myeongdong with my friend to go shopping. When we went to Olive Young because I wanted to buy Dr. Jart’s mask sheets. As I was about to go to the cashier, I noticed a bunch of these period hot packs. I decided to bought them for two reasons, one being when I get my period, the second day is basically like hell and for me it gets really painful until I can’t go out or do any other activities other than lying down on my bed. Secondly, Sunday was my period starting point so woohoo!
Monday morning came, which mean day two is here! As soon as I finished my shower, I could already feel the pain. So, I quickly grabbed the patch and wore it from morning until the afternoon since I had to go to school. Throughout the entire time I was in school, I still felt a slight pain, but not as much as usual when I don’t wear the patch. Also, throughout the whole day, the patch is consistently hot or warm.
By the time I arrived at my apartment, I had to change the patch because the glue or the sticky part of the patch has basically worn off.
The patch itself is herbal, it contains; rose, lavender, clary sage, fennel, ylang ylang, and essential oil. I doesn’t really give of a pungent or strong smell as I thought it would be, which is a bit disappointing and a relief at the same time.
The patch is useable up to 6 hours and goes up to 53 degrees celsius, which is great. When I first wore it, it felt a bit warm, but as the day goes it became even warmer and warmer.
Even though this is a good product and I love it, there’s something that i have to say about it.
So on monday night I decided to put the patch on before i slept, so I can sleep peacefully. When I woke up the next morning, I found that the patch became seriously hot. I was like, “Oh, ok. It became hotter.” and thought that nothing wrong happened at night. But when I was taking a shower, I noticed that there are two tiny scar or burn marks on my lower abdomen where i placed the patched. Once i saw that, I immediately thought that I got burned, which is the most logical explanation that I have. The burn marks seriously stings and it sucks!
Overall, I would still use it because this is basically my current life saver and a more healthier (?) option than drinking pain killers. Will I use it while I’m sleeping again, probably not, because those marks are not pretty.
