I came up with some lore headcanons about Cruv’Laaphtian Crocus’ experiences after blooming

* When Crocus first bloomed on Psychic Island, his first thoughts weren’t curiosity about his surroundings or the other monsters around him. Instead, he felt a deep sense of discomfort.

* He soon realized that this discomfort stemmed from feeling trapped on the island while the universe above him seemed to call to him.

* Early on, he would spend every waking moment trying to escape. He would find a secluded area in the forest where nobody could bother him (he can travel around the island by burrowing underground) and try to uproot himself. Every attempt, however, was futile.

* With every failed attempt, Crocus’ anger and resentment towards Cruv’Laapht grew. One night, Crocus decided he’d put all of the energy he could muster into escaping. As usual, the attempt was useless. But this time, Crocus felt a sense of hope break inside him.

* He would go into a violent rage, using his psychic powers to destroy whatever was surrounding him. Eventually, his anger faded and gave way to grief. He would break down, alone in the forest.

* The other monsters on Psychic Island were curious about Crocus, but often couldn’t find him due to his solitary behavior. During his breakdown, no one wanted to end up in the middle of his rage, so they kept their distance. However, it was Periscorp who proved to be surprisingly brave and ended up finding him in the woods.

* The little monster would talk to Crocus about what was wrong, and Crocus finally decided to open up. Periscorp sympathized with his plight and encouraged Crocus to open up more with the others on the island.

* This would end up being beneficial for everyone. No longer an enigmatic figure, the other monsters made sure to help Crocus feel at home on the island. Despite not being able to leave the island, they encouraged him to still explore his interest in space.

* Crocus found that reading and learning about space helps him feel more connected to it. While he will always feel a longing to escape and see it for himself, he’s found that he’s become more content with his place on the island with the company of his newfound friends.
