1906 New Orleans. Two young boys meet outside of a segregated restaurant. Hi! Would you mind if I use some tags you used on a post on fan art back in May? It's the one with de-aged Stanford and Stanley holding Dipper and Mabel, as something is advancing on them. I saw the fan art, and you tags and immediately I began plotting a story. I will happily tell you my story idea if it would ake you more comfortable ? It mostly involves weird family hijinks, also I wrote a scene for it. Thank you!

In one of your post you mentioned the older twins would probably end up switching in and out of Stan's body. Immediately, I had this vision of whichever twin in Stan's body coming down stairs for breakfast, and Dipper's asking "So who are you this morning?" They tell them, and Mabel responding with "I thought so, you were acting very geeky/conman-y when I said 'Hi' this morning."

Ahahah, that’s such a funny image! If something like this happened enough, I’m sure Mabel and Dipper would learn to immediately recognize who’s who based on how they walk without Stan or Ford even having to say a single word.

I do get the feeling that Stan and Ford would want to be very upfront with the kids on what’s going on, however. That first time Ford posessed Stan- since it was an accident- the kids and Soos didn’t really know what was happening and were kinda concerned and frightened by "Grunkle Stan’s” sudden shift in personality. “Stan” was stumbling all over the place, since Ford hadn’t been in control of physical limbs in over thirty years. At first, Dipper and Mabel and Soos thought Stan had been injured or had hit his head or something and it wasn’t until Ford sat them down and explained how he had accidentally switched places with Stan that they calmed down.

The first time was an accident Ford didn’t really have conscious control over, but once he figured out how to pull his mind back into the mindscape and gained more command over this ability it becomes something he can control at whim. I mentioned briefly in this post (I think it’s the one you were talking about?) about the potential of Stan and Ford switching places as they try to defeat Bill, and I still really like that idea. I don’t quite know yet how this might play out, but I’d love to use it in some way since it kinda parallels the twin switch in canon. In that case, the kiddos would definitely be briefed on the plan and would know who’s who when and all.

bUT! If the prep for their plan to defeat Bill would take more than a few days? Imagine if Stan let Ford take over for a day to get to know the kids more easily, as a surprise or something. They’d be expecting their Grunkle Stan as usual, but then Ford lets them know it’s him and... well I imagine Mabel might shriek in joy. Cling to his leg or something.

“Dipper, Dipper! Now we get TWO Grunkles in ONE!”

They’re probably... a bit weirded out by it at first, interacting with a Grunkle who’s NOT Stan but still looks like Stan because of the whole consensual possession thing, but over time they get used to it. Stan probably jokes that they’re taking their twinhood to the extreme. 

But from that day on Mabel and Dipper always asks who’s who in the morning, just in case. Usually it’s Stan, because Ford doesn’t want to overstay his welcome, but every once it a while it’ll be their other Grunkle.

Thoughts on Wicked, Grilled Cheese toasties and Coffee with Cake

Oh boy, that first one's probably not what you're hoping for. XD;;

So first... thoughts on Wicked. To start with... I do like some of the songs. Defying Gravity, Popular, and Loathing are all good. Other songs are... ehh. But like, as for the story, I was already like... Not Really Into It from the concept alone, given it's an Oz story that's based primarily on the MGM musical rather than the books. (I'm a firm believer that if you want to do a take on Oz media, you need to base it on the books, not on the MGM musical, which is enormously watered down and, in terms of being an adaptation, extremely bad.) But my family wanted to see the musical (in an actual theater, not the movie), so several years ago I went to see it.

The musical had... its ups and downs. The choreography was good when it... actually existed. (For some reason a ton of the songs just have no choreography so you're just sitting there staring at these characters who are just... standing and singing, and maybe walking around if you're lucky.) The few times they use stuff like puppetry (like the fake wizard head and the dragon) are pretty cool! I remember after the first act thinking "oh okay, this isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!" But then the second act happened and... oh gosh what a mess. This really is one of the worst ways to do a "classic story but from the villain's perspective!!!" Rather than actually making Elphaba a compelling character, they just made her look good by making everyone else around her worse people, and glossed over the actually awful stuff she did. Trying to kill a child? Taking over an entire country? Let's just ignore those parts because they make her look bad!!!! ugh.

It sucks. It's a bad story.

I have not watched the movie because I already saw the musical it was based on and hated it. I feel no desire to amend this.

I have also not read the book, as I've had multiple people tell me it ALSO sucks, and I've heard enough snippets that I wish I could permamently scrub from my head forever to know that it's not a book I would ever want to read ever. (I feel bad for any kid who winds up checking that book out at the library. It's nooooot for kids.)

But yeah. tl;dr I am Not A Fan of Wicked aside from a handful of the songs.

As for my thoughts on grilled cheese, I love it!! Sometime within the last year or so I found a recipe for a really nice grilled cheese sandwich--it's on my blog somewhere in my "#food" tag--and I've made it several times since. Grilled cheese freakin' rocks and I love it, especially now that I've learned how to elevate it, haha. Definitely recommend the recipe I reblogged a while ago.

Thoughts on coffee with cake... You know, I've never eaten coffee with cake! I've eaten other pastries with it-- concha, donuts, muffins, etc--but never cake. I HAVE had sour cream cookies with it though, and given those taste a lot like cake batter, I'd say coffee with cake is probably pretty good! I should try it sometime.

1. no! I did not, in fact, know this. holy shit.

2. no, and I kinda don’t want to? I’m not very keen on ship fusions a la Steven Universe. it’s just not my thing.
