Culinary quince, "Aromatnaya" with its beautiful candy-striped rose-like blossoms and beautiful habit is another amazing edible ornamental. Supposedly highly resistant to blight, and not a vector for it. Also, flowering very late, and useful as a faux "calorie crop" making it a good choice for a world in climate crisis. It is not actually calorie rich or starchy but has a history of cultural use as a substitute for calorie crops.
