No 'silent protest' if Wan Azizah is named Permatang Pauh candidate
SEBERANG PERAI, April 17, 2015:
Permatang Pauh PAS will support PKR in the upcoming Permatang Pauh by-election and PAS will not object to PRK president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail being fielded as the candidate.
These two points were stated by Wan Azizah here today at a press conference at the Seberang Perai Municipal Council.
She also denied that there would be a “silent protest” by Permatang Pauh PAS if she was fielded as the candidate for the by-election.
Wan Azizah said she was already assured by the Permatang Pauh PAS Commissioner that PKR would be getting undivided support regardless of whom the candidate is.
Wan Azizah did not confirm nor deny the possibility of her candidacy when asked on talks that she is the candidate.
PKR, which has been holding the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat for six terms will be contesting against Barisan Nasional’s component party Umno.
Wan Azizah was also asked to comment on media reports that there are some PAS factions opposing her and any of her family members as candidates for the by-election.
However, Penang PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa had earlier on Tuesday said that Penang PAS, including Permatang Pauh PAS, will offer its full support to PKR for the by-election, regardless of the candidate.
