"The RSS Feed Daisy Chain" Part 3:
In this portion of the blog we are going to cover “how to attach a RSS feed to a PerPageHTML application”(iPhone users only). For starters this is going to require the “PerPageHTML app” offered on cydia, so of course this only applies to those of you that have a jailbroken iPhone with 5.0.1 software update or newer. Haven’t jailbroken your iPhone yet? Visit www.redsn0w.us/ («<the “O” is actually a zero=0»>) and use their walk through to jailbreak your device.
Once that is complete, visit cydia and download a free version of “PerPageHTML” app by using http://repo.insanelyi.com/ as a new source in your management section. After you download the app, look up either “iFile” or “MyFile” file location manager app and download that as well. Some people prefer to add files onto their device using their computer; in that case download “iExplorer” at http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/ onto your computer or desktop. Plug your device in and let it update the drivers.
From there, open the “PerPageHTML” app and click the “RSS” option and choose the pages you want to display your feed on and exit the app, closing it when you are done. Navigate your way into your phone and copy the attached code into your widget.html, styles.css and jquery.js files in the var/mobile/library/perpagehtml/rssfeed section of your phone. Copy and paste the 3 files into the “RSS Feed” folder and replace the existing files with your new ones.
Now open the jquery.js file with a text editor and paste your RSS feed into the existing feed. It should look something like this:
var rssAddress = ‘http://api.twitter.com/1/statuses/user_timeline.rss?screen_name=YOURNAMEGOESHERE’;
Put your name or http address of the feed you would like to showcase in the app and then mess with the styles.css text to shape and color things to your liking.
Now you have a successful RSS application with your own feed showcasing your message or news content on your empty iPhone pages or add them to your search page!
