I don’t know how to explain this but the way Paul says hello and goodbye to Perry and Della gives off such big “I’m giving you a smooch on the cheek” energy

shows up a day late with terrible photoshop skills and bad puns
happy valentine's day <3
I think sometime in the 70s, Della goes on the warpath trying to get Perry and Paul to stop smoking.
Perry is bemused but he only really smoked socially or during really stressful cases so he doesn’t have that difficult of a time.
But our poor chimney stack Paul STRUGGLES.
At first he kind of blows her off like “I’ve always done this and look at me! I’m strong as an ox!”
Then Della starts leaving articles on his desk about the research around cancer and smoking, and taking them to smoking-free restaurants, etc. but Paul just digs in harder
until one day Della bursts into tears and he’s horrified and she tells him between her sobs that she just can’t imagine losing him and he holds her close and promises he’ll at least TRY to cut back.
Cue Paul drinking coffee (even more than usual) and chewing gum and literally trying everything to wean off the cigarettes. He’s always sneaking cigs though (he’s not going to be able to go cold turkey no way) and Della refuses to kiss him when she can smell the tobacco.
Perry is supportive and will throw away Paul’s cigarettes every time he finds them (and he has an annoyingly accurate sixth sense for where Paul is trying to hide them). But he also sneaks a smoke with Paul every so often when he knows Paul is having a rough week.
Hamilton quits smoking when Della tells him it causes wrinkles 😁
Paul Drake would absolutely despise the Pinkerton Detective Agency and every time someone brings them up he’d go on a rant about their unethical practices and bad moral character.
Perry and Della do it every so often because they think Paul is really sexy when he’s being all ethical and morally righteous
You know, I feel like people assume because Perry is such a workaholic that he’s a morning person but in both the books and the show he comes into the office way later than his employees (unless he literally is there all night) and in the book TCOT Empty Tin, Della implies that if Perry has a late night at the office he usually doesn’t come in the next morning until ELEVEN.
So I’m here to propose Perry - in true ADHD fashion - is actually a total night owl and if he has to get up early on days he doesn’t have a hyper fixation case to occupy him he’s a total grumpy zombie until at least his second cup of coffee.
What I’m saying is my wife was 100% correct in her portrayal of perrycule mornings in her fic Jack and Jack and Jill
I’m watching TCOT Green-Eyed Sister and Della goes to Perry’s apartment to try to get him to take a case because he’s supposed to be leaving for a lawyer’s conference in London and they’re in Perry’s living room talking then Paul just walks in from Perry’s bedroom carrying Perry’s suitcases???? They give no explanation for why Paul’s there and Perry and Della are wearing coats but Paul isn’t?? Was he already there when Della and Perry got back??? Why is he helping Perry with his luggage if not boyfriend??
The implications….
Modern!AU Paul Drake definitely vapes
I’m reading The Case of the Silent Partner and there is a character called Harry Peavis
