The Gate of Farafar aka The Gates of Heaven, Yazd, Iran

More than 2000 years old, the Gate of Farafar is proof of ancient Persian architecture that predates the Islamic era of Iran. It is said that this Persian architectural style was later used in building mosques both in Persia and other parts of the world. This gate marked the entrance of the ancient Yazd city or "Isatis" as the greek called it.

The statue visible through the gate represents Arash the Archer, a heroic archer-figure of Iranian mythology.

It’s the Nasir-ol-Molk masjid in Shiraz! Dating from the Qajar dynasty, it’s well known for its muqarnas and Orsi glass. It’s best to visit in morning and late afternoon as the glass is designed to catch and amplify the light at those times, which spreads rainbows throughout the western prayer hall and parts of the courtyard. It’s also affectionately nicknamed the “pink mosque” as pink is one of the major hues used in the tiles.
