About Qanoon instrument Qanoon is a string instrument (wooden trapezoidal frame) played with two index fingers and two picks. It has similarities to harp in its style of playing. Qanoon was not a part of Iranian traditional music for a long time but in the last half century it has made a come-back. To play Qanoon instrument, place it on a desk which is slightly sloped towards the player. The longer base is leaning against the lower side, close to the player. The desk should be slightly higher than the chair the player is sitting in. Qanoon is used in the music of several countries such as Egypt, Turkey and Armenia and former Soviet Union countries and Iran of course. It comes in different shapes and hence is not really standardized. .
