Chi and Freya. Light and Dark by CLAMP
The simulacrum, as Baudrillard defines it, is a copy without an original, and simulation “is no longer that of a territory, a referential being, or a substance. It is the generation by models of a real without origin or reality: a hyperreal” (1). Simulation refers to the “question of substituting the signs of the real for the real” and is a matter of “imperialism” as “present-day simulators attempt to make the real, all of the real, coincide with their models of simulation” (2). It has nothing to do with mere pretense, which is a surface phenomenon of imitation of a preceding reality that is not eradicated by the act of pretending; instead, simulation “threatens the difference between the ‘true’ and the ‘false,’ the ‘real’ and the ‘imaginary’” (3) by engendering, preceding, and intercepting reality.

Buddies.
I just realized that I have gotten a small taste of what it feels like to have a computer keep forgetting you. It might’ve been my character and the plot we kept establishing but it is the same thing when you get down to it.
Chester the Monkey and Cloudy Sky
Cloudy a.k.a. Chloe is my redesign of Stella/Star. She and Chester run the daycare at the MiniPlex, the sister location to the Mega PizzaPlex located on the other side of the State.
Like Sun and Moon, Chester and Cloudy represent a duality. Namely, the Earth and Sky.
I imagine their daycare having a similar layout to the Superstar Daycare, except with the jungle aesthetic of Gator Golf. It also has a Mobius Kids-like STEM-inspired area and an outdoor play area. It also has more skylights and is decked out like an actual jungle with jungle gyms decorated with vines, animal-themed play structures, rope ladders and swings. There are no backup generators in the play structures. It is not okay to let toddlers near those.
The floor and trees of the Daycare are programmed to change color palettes depending on the season, changing with the solstices and equinoxes. Patterns on the floor are created by projectors in the ceiling. They turn off after closing.
The trees, while they have color-changing branches, are still climbable with little platforms and treehouses for kids to hide out in.
There are sensors outside that detect when the sun goes down and when it rises again, as well as temperature changes, which are reflected inside as adjustments to internal temperature and lights dimming or brightening until closing or opening.
