For some reason I can't function as a person (like I can't take care of myself or my room or anything) without pretending I'm an adult in my own place. I'm not sure what to do or how to fix it (I'm 17 and living with my parents) what should I do?
Sometimes keeping things in order and organizing things can be a difficult task. Finding fun ways to keep your room clean is the best option for maintaining a clean space. You can try to make a list of pro's on why keeping a clean room is better than having a messy room, same thing for keeping yourself clean. Having a clean space around you along with a clean body can instantly make you feel better, and make your day better. Try playing some music while you clean, or listening to a funny podcast to distract you if you don't like cleaning.
If you do things daily, like putting laundry in a hamper instead of on the floor, throwing away trash, taking dishes out to the sink instead of on your desk, you will eventually make a habit out of it. Before you know it, you'll have a clean room without even meaning to.
As for keeping yourself clean, buy a shampoo you love or some soap that smells amazing. Lush is a company that is 100% cruelty free and an all around good company. Lush sells bath related products that might encourage you to bathe more often, aka keep better care of yourself! Try washing your sheets, washing your clothes, and taking a shower. Before you go to bed, put on your clean sheets and clean pajamas, and feel how wonderful it feels on your skin. (Whenever I personally do this, I also shave my legs and then put lotion on them so it feels extra nice!)
Keeping care of yourself is actually really fun if you find a lotion you like, some good smelling spray/perfume/cologne, and great smelling shampoo/conditioner! I know that keeping yourself up can be a hassle if your tired or just not feeling very well that day, but I recommend that if you're not feeling well when you first wake up, is to just wash your face & brush your teeth. Having a clean body can make your day better.
