...and turning it back on again. How about turning it off twice? How about just leaving it off. Leave it off and let it forget its past purpose. Let it wilt into your window structure as though it were an abstract metaphor for the complexities of aging. Look at it an see yourself. Let it look at you and see itself. It won’t look at you quite the way you’re looking at it. That would require eyes... and sentience. It will mourn the lack of sentience it has. That will show it. That will show ALL of it.
Cats of course! a very specific cat!
Yes, having emotions is a burden, and controlling them seems next to impossible. It’s important to remember that others are struggling with their own the same way. Sometimes their battles leave them too distracted or injured to help others.
But with dedication, those tricky things, emotions, not so much people, can also be rewarding! Each pain that we suffer, each weight on our hearts, each tear and shudder and illness, these things make the moments we hold dear... well.. more dear. When we shine, when we smile... when the joy and relief and excitement seem blinding! Those briefest, fleeting spectacles of radiance bursting forth from the veins of life itself, those... are worth fighting for. You! Are worth fighting for... even when hope feels like a lost cause.
You are not broken. Do not throw your value away yet.
Things have long been in the works, Listeners! For a very festive and emotionally compromising event! “Bake Sales,” while profitable, have played a significant role in shaping the history of our town since it’s foundation. Getting a permit for a “Bake Sale” is no easy feat. It requires a lot of paper signing, police security, at least one good tragic back story involving a frying pan, an impressive amount of “zoning-out” and a few blackmail favors. Lucky for us, I know a certain Scientist and NVCR was able to bypass one or seven of those things thanks to sheer dumb luck… In any case, NVCR will be holding it’s first ever “Bake Sale” in order to raise funds for Intern Artemis’s non-human sanctuary! in order to inflate the pastry market! Now we just have to figure out what to sell... EVENT BADGE AVAILABLE! If you’re an intern and you’re looking to start getting your hands on your Jr. Radio Host Certification, look no further. For this special Bake Sale, Cecil will be offering our “Consuming Consumerism” Badge to any intern who submits a delicious description of a hard-to-resist Night Vale dessert for the Sale! What we need: 1) A Name for your dessert 2) Description of said dessert 3) A price! Remember! No wheat or wheat-by-products! Submissions for the badge will be taken until 11/17/15. If you are not already an intern, you are welcome to submit your application with your dessert anytime before the final date. We can’t wait to see you at the sale!
Bleh! Can’t believe that was next to a perfectly good spider...
