You know what? I'm gonna do this. I love...fucking love, these characters and I'm tired of the way they are treated constantly. I'm here, specifically, for Eliot. I have qualms with the way everyone else is treated but this one is about him. I am angry and fed up with the story line he's stuck with. I'm so sick of the way queer characters are being treated and this one sent me over the edge. Eliot, in season 1, is an openly, outwardly, canonically gay character. He's had boyfriends and lovers. I know people don't love his "stereotypical " behavior but I'm even willing to overlook that because he is an un ashamed, out gay man and his friends don't treat his sexuality as his only character trait. What I'm angry about is the Fillory Eliot. Essentially the writers have said he is wrong or broken. Eliot himself says it. He said that something was broken and he also tells Margo before the "wedding" that nothing has ever worked or helped him to cope so he was gonna do the "het Fillory" thing. Fuck that. He is gay. His character is meant to be gay. This idea that Fillory and Fen can "fix" him is the exact same thing as telling queer people that we're broken and need help. It makes me so angry that Eliot is the one who has had to give up his entire life on earth. Idk. I'm very angry and I'm extremely exhausted with the same shit happening time and time again to queer characters. I'm tired of having to imagine that LGBTQA people get a decent and normal representation. Just give us a story line that doesn't assuage the heterosexuals. For once. Please.
