NARRATOR: As night fell on March 18, 3rd Place came to life in preparation for the Sub Rosa Sessions podcast taping.

BEN LOOMIS: We’ve been doing the Sub Rosa Sessions since July now, and we’ve released, I think, 4 of them online, and this will come up to be the sixth I think when it comes out in a month or two.

NARRATOR: Originally a Boone Community Network project, the podcast is now a standalone program since the group disbanded earlier this year.

CAROL MCCROSKEY: Ah, this is my first, like, actual performance performance. I’ve always done open mic and that’s a little different [laughs]. This is my first experience with podcasts, um, so I’m looking forward to it.

MCCROSKEY: I’ve talked with some of the musicians that are gonna play tonight, so I’m excited to hear what they’re gonna do.

DAN JOY: My buddy Ben Loomis got me into the, uh, the Boone Local Talent Show over at the Local. Since then he invited me to come play here at the 3rd Place Sub Rosa Sessions. nI heard about the podcast and it seemed really exciting, so I wanted to be a part of it.

TAYLOR WAFFORD: We have a lot of really solid material packed into 45 minutes. Local music is such a powerful thing, and I love what we’re doing here in creating such a close-knit community for the music in Boone. So we’re really excited.

LOOMIS: They make sure that you keep it 18 and up, so we really like to take advantage of that and let people know that this is a great place for, uh, people who might not be 21 yet to come out, get into the local music scene and meet people who are, you know, sound techs and the artists booking shows around town.
