I just really like that even totally devoted lovers like Xuanji and Sifeng were not on the same page in the beginning, even in their tenth life. Before, in the previous ones Xuanji were absolutely “career-focused” while Sifeng, although more than competent, always has a drive for love and connection in his heart(especially for Xuanji). Xuanji didn’t have that, because she was not capable of forming meaningful attachment outside birth family due to the damages she had sustained. She was stone-hard inside. Then she met Sifeng and slowly her heart starts to grow for him. How can she not grow to love this soft, vulnerable, beautiful person who keeps throwing himself at her stone-hard self, stubbornly, regardless of the hurts he had to endure lifetime after lifetime? She has to heal. There was conditions for her to heal and grow, but I totally believe it was Xuanji’s own decision and will that she truly healed and grew to be capable of love once again. That’s why they can come to the same page eventually. There was a will to converge their ways.
(Sifeng also come to understand Xuanji/LHJD’s wants and deepest drives and made the decision to stand with them. It is also very important.)
