Reading this it makes sense since In Japanese the pronunciation of the English word “cute" is (Kyūto, キュート). Both Q and cute harbor the same Japanese pronunciation “Kyū” they both sound similar to each other when spoken allowed in Japanese. “Kyū” is seen in Kyūsaku Yumeno’s name, the same that is taken from Kyūto(キュート) the Japanese word for cute. when Kyūsaku’s name is spoken allowed its sounds like cute  q and cute have the same Japanese pronunciation their names reference to the Japanese pronunciation that is seen in their name. Q character design is noted to be designed based on to be cute to note the Japanese pronunciation of cute.

q reference to cute this may be why the characters in Mo Dao zu shi are designed at deformed chibis. Another example of Q is heavily seen in Persona q, the characters are drawn very chibi like.
