EATING HABITS AND SAMPLE DAILY MENU. ashley’s eating habits are incredibly poor. he doesn’t necessarily forget to eat, but he doesn’t prioritize it, and that often leads to him skipping meals ( and eating as a whole ) when he’s busy. which is, as one can imagine, quite often. it’s only when the events of go set a watchman begin that he begins to eat more regularly, and this is because of christian’s requests to stop and eat at the diner on long trips. so diner food is often a part of his diet. he’s a very strict vegetarian, so that tends to limit his menu, but other than his refusal to eat meat — he’ll eat anything. which is something he picked up in the corps. he ate food he liked, he ate food that would’ve otherwise made him sick, he ate food that was too hot, and food that had gone cold, and he ate the stalest shit imaginable because he was hungry, and that was what they had. his smoking was at its worst in the corps as well, because he’d replace his meals with cigarettes — until he had to ration those too. as for a daily menu — he usually has eggs or oatmeal for breakfast. he takes vitamins and supplements. lunch is typically skipped, replaced by cigarettes and coffee. dinner is basic. things he can cook in advance and reheat after long days at the office. rice, soup, stew, chili, etc. are some common meals.
FAVORITE BOOK GENRE? westerns! while ashley’s memories of childhood are often incredibly poor, he does remember sweeter moments, and it’s this state of mind that he tries to retreat to. he remembers walking to the thrift store and buying paperback westerns for ninety-nine cents a piece, he remembers reading them in henri’s truck while henri drove them into town, then back to his place. ashley spends a lot of his spare time trying to find that sense of peace again, that lull — because while he was still miserable back then, he was happier than he is now. when he was fifteen, he knew nothing about the slayer corps or the horrors it’d bring him. he’d always known death, because he was a gravedigger’s son, but he didn’t know the brutality that the corps would teach him. he still knew kindness. and while ashley won’t avoid the bleaker westerns, he prefers those with happier endings. because it’s nice to check out for a moment, and see the hero win.
TURN-ONS? TURN-OFFS? turn-ons — smokers, neck kisses. teasing and dirty talk is hit or miss. whatever christian murphy has going on. turn-offs — bondage, humiliation, degradation. doctors. being watched / someone looking at his scars.
