Well the girl who sings that song has done what people think to be wicked things about her whole life. The one time she does something good, her boyfriend gets kidnapped, so she decides that being good isn't all that great so she will make sure that being good doesn't come without a price, like what happened to her

Sorry if this seems annoying but for the record I think the OP meant for the Wicked question to say "no good deed" because in Wicked there is literally a song called No Good Deed with the line "no good deed goes unpunished" repeated several times throughout the song
oh okay yeah never saw it. it just doesnt really make sense to me bc like arent bad things supposed to get punished and good things rewarded? i guess maybe thats the point of the song though...
