There's a common misconception that life is hard, but life by itself is nothing but a word humans created. The actual thing is just a compilation of memories and things you can either create or destroy. Life is not complicated unless we choose it to be.
CHECK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU WRECK YOURSELF, FOOL.
I've been running into this situation with a lot of my friends/acquaintances recently, and it's actually driving me nuts. I keep giving them the "appreciate what you have" lecture, but I think they need somebody to remind them that THEY'RE OVERREACTING.
The Situation: Person has a mediocre computer that runs slowly, can't access all the fun new apps, and doesn't look great. (Also lots of other similar situations) The Reaction: The world is over. Life hates them. Why does everybody else get fantastic gear while they get poop? Wah, wah, life is unfair. The Reality: You're RIGHT, life is UNFAIR. It's unfair that people with such selfishly skewed perceptions can make other people feel so terrible for a situation they can't control. There are probably people that live within 5 minutes of you that can't afford your "crappy" laptop. To be honest, in a city this small there is probably a family living within 5 minutes of you that can't afford to pay next month's rent or feed their children or get a laptop at all. Yeah, it's frustrating that you can't have everything, but it's not like you have nothing. You can access all the necessities, and have a few bonuses on their too, so just suck it up.
It's even worse if they aren't paying for any of it themselves. If you've been given a gift, say thank you and just be happy that you've been given a gift. People, it's time to grow up and see the world without tunnel vision.
