I think Anora...came to love Cailin, or at least learned to. It isn't as though they were sweethearts, it was arranged by their families.

See this is my thought as well.

Like no, Anora cared deeply for Cailan. She did care for Cailan, but I don’t think it was ever in the romantic way. She was put together with this man to be his wife and she grew to have affection for him. She enjoyed being by his side, she enjoyed ruling with him. They cared for one another and their well-beings, but more out of adapting to their lives together.

To me Anora does kind of insinuate she looked after Calian, like a big sister does a little brother almost.

My grading for the ship still stands, while they were good rulers together. I personally don’t think they weren’t good together. Especially with how upset Anora (whether out embarrassment, exasperation, or betrayal, idk) is when she admits that Cailan was looking beyond her for companionship.
