The Drastic Effect of Coronavirus
Coronavirus or COVID-19 is a worldwide problem. It brought up changes and challenges in our lives. Many people suffered, many people died, and many people are frightened. Day by day things got worse, everything that we do are limited. The way we live became different and we can’t predict when will this pandemic will end. So, we have to do something, because if we'll ignore it now, we'll suffer tomorrow.
As it was stated in the article of pharmaceutical-technology.com, COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines started during the 30th of January 2020, when a 38-year-old woman with virus arrived in our country from Wuhan China. From that, the dilemma started. Our country panicked and thus terror began. The government issued lockdowns on Metro Manila and eventually the whole country.
Based on investinginwomen.asia, due to lockdowns, many businesses are forced to be closed and many workers job was suspended, hours and pay were reduced, or forced to take unpaid leave. Almost 63% of employees were affected by this pandemic. 6 out of 10 families have lost income and over 60% of those affected began working from home. They don't have any choice but to put up with it because they need to gain money for their family.
COVID-19 also cost educational crisis because of the prolonged class suspensions and interruptions. Based on voxeu.org, classes have been to delayed and parents doesn't have the money for tuition. Homeschooling or online classes are now being conducted to carry on with the student’s education but it affects the children's social life and learning. Many students have complaints when it comes in online class, because of the shortage of supply in modules, deadlines of submission, depression and pressure, it also became a major problem for them that needs to overcome in just a small amount of time.
As presented in the World Health Organization, the confirmed cases in the Philippines from January 3, 2020 to January 12, 2021 are 489,736, where the confirmed deaths are 9,416. These numbers are continuously growing day by day by hundreds or thousands. Medical facilities are insufficient as well as the medical staff assisting them. Due to lack of resources, it became one of the hindrances to prevent the spread of covid-19 virus and according to cnnphilippines.com, the government requires the use of face masks and face shields when going out to increase protection when interacting with other people. But there are many people that are not following it and still won't wear them or they wear them improperly. Even when the government issues punishments and penalties, they still won't follow them, and in exchange, COVID-19 transmission becomes more dominant.
Many people find this pandemic a life-threatening situation and a pestering virus but the lockdowns that it caused helped many families to have quality time with each other. This might have raised a ruckus but it also helped the nature to heal from human deeds like deforestation, kaingin and pollutions. You can see how clear the sky is, animals were seen enjoying the quiet world, less crimes, and people learned how to do proper hygiene. If you will just look on the brighter side, this pandemic gave us a meaningful lesson that we should always be thankful for what we have and be positive to every circumstances that we may encounter in our life.
COVID-19 has its pros and cons, but the world would be better off without it. It caused drastic changes in lifestyle, businesses, education, and economy. It threatened our lives and brought crisis to the world. Wearing proper protection for the virus and simply following the rules and regulations prior to our safety is a huge help in the whole world. Starting from the little things would save us and the people around us from harm. So, let's have the unity and fight against COVID-19.

For some, they think that money is mainly on the top of the list because it has the greatest contribution in dictating the flow of human society. Nowadays, almost every move costs a price. It is basically hard to look for free things in the generation we are facing today and money is an indispensable commodity to survive. It is a general thought that if money is present, the rest will just follow.
Try to look what happened to Marilyn Monroe, an American singer, model, and actress who became the most popular sex symbol of the 1950’s. Despite her fame, she ended up killing herself by barbiturate overdose and it was interpreted that the suicide was because she failed to find happiness as the Hollywood’s most famous and brightest star.
How about the Queen of the Nile Cleopatra who is the last reigning ruler of the Ptolemaic Egypt? She had the power others envy the most. Yet, she also committed suicide by allowing an Asp (Egyptian cobra) to bite her.
Historian explained that it was because Mark Antony, her beloved also committed suicide which made her to willingly follow his death.
That’s what people think of them. Yet,there is an underlying question others have often overlooked; Do they really have the power over the world? Or they made the world gained the power over them?
Another one is Alexander McQueen, a famous and wealthy British fashion designer who killed himself by hanging. He did it on the eve of his mother’s funeral whom he couldn’t bare separated with.
These people have an ubiquitous amount of wealthy, power and fame. They have everything they want but at the tip of all these material belongings, they still failed to have the essence of what they have. They had what they wanted, but didn’t have what they need.
What happened to those people are just a few of the proof that are actually enough to open our eyes to the reality hiding in our closed minds.
Yes, we have to accept the fact that humans will never be contented and will always ask for more. But the truth is, we have been longing for things that doesn’t really matter. We’ve been looking so far to the end of the rainbow just to see the pot of gold, when all this time, the priceless colors sprouting in the sky which is actually more beautiful and worth-looking is just before our very eyes. We are too amazed with the glitters which eventually blinded us to fully see what’s more important than just the external satisfaction. There is something more in this world that money can’t buy. There are things that power can’t control. There are those which can make us rich deep within but sad to say, this things are the ones we neglect the most.
Majority of these things are actually free. We just have to seek that within ourselves. It’s something the mind can’t think of, but the heart can always feel. That four-letter word can’t buy you the things you need because those which are priceless are actually the most necessary.
On the first place, you are here in this planet because of love. Your parents were bonded with love and you were created. But most of all, God perceived you even before your parents did because He loved you. He is still loving you and He will love you endlessly. You were granted by the opportunity to experience this life because God loves you so much that he wants you to make use of his creations. There is no earthly thing that can satisfy you other that the love of Divinity. He even gave you the people who make part in your life and to make you feel his love even more.
That folks, is the word we call “LOVE”.
We are all but instruments of God’s love and our pursue for contentment will never be achieved unless we realize that.
Love is not just that tingling feeling in your tummy when you see your crush. It is not just the mere topic being presented in one of the teleserye you constantly watch. It is more than that. Love is the feeling of happiness for others’ happiness. Love is the contentment of sacrificing yourself for the betterment of the whole. Love is giving what you have without expecting something in return. Love is God and God is love. At the end of this life we have borrowed, the wealth and power we gained in this world will be left. All we can have as we lie down our coffin is the feeling that this life gave us.
