Peru Totes are very special one-of-a-kind handmade bags cut from the finest leather available and wrapped in pure wool textiles hand-stitched by Peruvian women. Linny travels to Lima, Peru and then hops on another plane to Cusco, Peru where she then travels on to the Sacred Valley where the most beautiful Peruvian textiles can be found.
Andean cultures have an astonishing relationship with the natural environment and will often include the animals that live around them in their weavings. My particular textiles are woven in the Sacred Valley near the base of Macchu Piccu where this feeling of connection between humans and the natural world is strongly evident in their art, their food and their entire way of life.
These textiles demand practiced labor-intensive skills as each one has not only been hand-woven, but the wool used was turned into thread after sheering the sheep munching on grass right outside where the loom rests (the loom is used for larger pieces like rugs and throws). The wool thread is dyed using only the bugs, minerals and plants that they live amongst.
This bag has been tried and tested and it is as strong as it is beautiful. Measuring 12 (L) X 7 (W) X 14.5 (H) it is a nice large bag, perfect for toting around groceries or pretty much anything else you feel like toting! It's a great everyday bag for those on the go.
>>>> Please Note: LK uses leather from free-range cows and although we try to cut from the perfect areas of the hides, there are sometimes scratches in the skin from life in the fields. Please zoom in on the first photo showing a superficial scratch in the bottom left corner. We missed this during cutting but it was brought out while staining. <<<<
