My sono-essay describes how I got to work in the summer. The story follows me through my entire trip, from waking up to stepping into the elevator. Delaney, the main character (me) is living with her sister Mackenzie and her sister’s boyfriend Jake in a railroad apartment in the east village. It is on a nice little street by Cooper Union and Astor Place, and Delaney sleeps on a mattress in the “dining room” area. Mackenzie and Jake have two cats, Bug and Little Bitch who sleep with Delaney every night. Jake had a very specific morning ritual so the sono-essay starts off with some Jake noises. I am not sure why I chose my trip to work as my “how did I get here” topic, but I am glad that I did. Reflecting on my journey from the East Village to Chelsea, I learned a lot about myself, my love for animals, and how creepy construction workers can be. This is not necessarily what an exact morning would look like for me, but kind of a compilation of some of the memorable moments I had this summer.
