I've been contacting several pet moving companies to help get my critters moved, and since it's an international move, the airline requires a moving company. Alright...
I am in Minnesota for context, and the Minneapolis airport has international and domestic flights.
Tell me why this moving company tells me they can only fly the animals if I can get them to Orlando first (on my dime, not part of their fees)... and then they can only get them to the first airport in the new country - not to the destination airport? Like... You are a moving company - logistics are literally your job? I'm flying out of an international airport in Minnesota... why can't you send someone up to pick up the animals from the airport in MN? For the price pet movers ask (thousands per animal), sending one person from Orlando to MSP and back to collect the animals is well within their budget. And to tell me they'll supply the travel kennels - ONCE I GET TO THE ORLANDO AIRPORT... Like what the f do you think they would be traveling in to get there??
Then they can't fly the animals to the final airport, so either I have to add on an additional flight to that airport and have an 18-26 hour train ride (with five animals in crates and a child after 24-36 hours of travel to get there), to meet someone to drive us the rest of the way home... Or pay the moving company extra to hire a driver to drive the same route (over 15 hours of driving time by road) because it's impossible for them to take the 2-hour flight to a smaller local airport.
Seriously though - am I being a jerk here? It seems weird that a company that moves animals as their sole purpose, is unable to pick them up at an airport in a different state despite advertising "door-to-door service." Oh, and when I first emailed I indicated my big dog is a service dog... the initial reply was "Please also consider the "mix breed" as this can be an obstacle too for not all airlines accept all breeds." - He's a SERVICE DOG and they're seriously like, Nah, might want to leave that one behind... WTAF?! Again, for the record, the dog in question is a giant schnauzer cross by best guess. He's trained as a service dog. At no point would anything indicate there's an issue with his breed or temperament...
I feel like that company is one giant RED FLAG.
