amazing new mexico sunset. I'm hanging on a bridge with my friend mikey way from my chem. its all orange and pink above us. we went to another waterpark again. I love high fives again. totally back in love. saw the most amazing movie... I think its called spirited away. watch it.

"what are you doing?"
"..."
"Pete?"
"oh- what??" Pete looks up from his phone to look at Mikey, not having heard a word of what he said.
Mikey laughs. "I asked what you're doing."
"oh. just updating my LiveJournal.." he smiles, pocketing his phone and leaning against the railing of the bridge.
"of course you are." Mikey shakes his head, taking off his glasses and setting them on the railing so he can dry his hair with a towel. they had just left a water park and were both still in their swim trunks.
"what's that supposed to mean?"
"nothing."

pete takes a deep breath of the fresh New Mexico air, now staring up at the sunset, the sky pink and orange and every color in between. it was beautiful and calm, a light breeze biting at their damp skin in the summer heat.
he looks over at Mikey, who is also admiring the skyline. his hair is still a bit damp, but he's put his glasses back on.
Mikey notices and looks back with a hint of confusion.
"what?"
"Just enjoying the view. same as you are." Pete smiles, clearly not talking about the sky at all. it makes Miley's cheeks turn a slight pink color. he looks away, seeming closed off.
Pete frowns, reaching out to grab Miley's shoulder. he turns him back to face him again. "what's the matter?"
"what if.." Mikey starts, swallowing nervously.
"What if you get too close, and I'm not how you hoped..?" he says quietly, and Pete's expression softens.
"I already am too close.."
"and you're exactly how I hoped." Pete hesitantly cups Mikey's cheek and smiles, which makes Mikey do the same, leaning into the touch.
"that's really sappy."
"I know it is." Pete chuckles, pulling away and leaning back against the bridge. Mikey looks away again, this time looking back up at the clouds above head, and pete just keeps on staring at him in admiration.
