El viernes 17 de marzo tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar jazz, y del bueno, de la mano de los Levin Brothers. Tony y Pete Levin desembarcaron en Rosario tras una serie de conciertos en Buenos Aires, acompañados por Jeff Siegel en la batería y Erik Lawrence en el saxo y flauta traversa.
Tocando juntos por primera vez sus composiciones en conjunto, los hermanos se mostraron muy simpáticos ante el público, con un Pete un poco más reservado, quizás, por el hecho de no hablar español como su hermano. Entre anécdotas, nos contaron cómo, después de tomar rumbos separados e incursionar en géneros como el rock y el pop, -y también recordando la vez que tocaron juntos por primera vez en un álbum de Paul Simon-, tuvieron la idea de crear Levin Brothers.
Quienes asistimos pudimos deleitarnos ante el virtuosismo de tremendos músicos, y ser testigos de un increíble set list, el cual repasó parte del trabajo de los hermanos en conjunto, así como también piezas de bandas sonoras tales como Cinema Paradiso, composiciones de Jeff (Wait for Action) e incluso un cover de Astor Piazzola (Milonga del ángel), que fue largamente ovacionado por el público. El repertorio incluyó además algunas composiciones de Pete (Pete’s Blues) y finalizó con un cover de Peter Gabriel (Don’t Give Up).
En medio de anécdotas y diálogos entre los músicos y el público se fueron sucediendo las canciones y tiempo pasó, tengo que admitir, muy rápido mientras todos nos reíamos y disfrutábamos de buena música, en un lugar tan hermoso como lo es la Sala Lavardén.
