he wakes him up like “aaron! i need to ask you something”

aaron is grumpy and says something like “you already know the answer to everything why do you need me?” and tries to roll over but spencer just shakes him again.

aaron sighs and turns over, “what is it, spence?”

“do you still like me 🥺”

i imagine cam boy reid is how they get together. we all accept the headcanon reid has a nsfw twitter, right? so hotch is fresh out of his divorce, he’s doing some soul searching on the internet at 3am (because haven’t we all) and he comes across a twitter account that he is... interested in.

one day hotch sees that the account is getting some hate and he claps back at every mean comment. (obviously he does not use an account that can identify him.) reid sees all the replies and messages hotch, saying thank you for defending him. (reid is used to it, he just blocks them and moves on. but it’s still very sweet to see somebody sticking up for him.)

so they start to chat and get to know each other. they get on pretty well. they talk a few times a day, mostly starting off with a generic “how was your day?” and slowly progressing into deeper conversations. they are both high key crushing.

then one day, the team is on the plane home from a case. reid is flicking through his twitter and sees a message from the guy. he shoots back a text and a second later hotch’s phone buzzes. coincidence.

hotch looks at his phone, smiles, and replies. then reid’s phone buzzes. it’s a reply from the nice twitter guy. holy shit. there’s no way.

he looks up to hotch who is looking right at him.

when aaron has to stay late, spencer goes home and orders them a nice dinner and gets the house nice and warm. when aaron gets home, he’s exhausted and a little grumpy so spencer undoes his tie,pushes his jacket off his shoulders and sits him on the couch. he kisses him on the cheek and gets his dinner. spencer talks and doesn’t push aaron to join in, but by the end of the meal he’s full of chats and smiles again.

sometimes when aaron is out he sees a cardigan spencer might like and can’t resist buying it. he loves giving spencer gifts. he comes home and acts all shy because he knows spencer will protest him spending money on him. but he hands him the bag and just says he knows it’s the material he likes. spencer loves it of course. spencer gives him a kiss and says thank you very much.

so i imagine they’re not out to the team yet, and now they decide it’s best not to share because the more people that know the more chance scratch will find out (if he doesn’t already know).

jack screams and cries when aaron says spencer can’t come with them. it’s hard for aaron to watch and he starts to cry too. eventually jack calms down and now it’s his turn to comfort his dad.

“he’ll still be here when we get to leave, right?”

“i hope so, buddy.”

they want to stay in contact, but neither of them want any possibility of putting jack in danger. aaron asks jj if she has any contacts on the down low in the postal service. they can’t go digital because scratch is good at that stuff (even if garcia is better, they doubt she’d be willing to take the risk if it endangered jack).

so jj’s contact agrees to hand deliver letters to aaron’s witsec house. there’s a few mechanics to it, for safety, but aaron and jack get a letter about once a month from spencer.

‘i think about you both everyday. i can’t wait to see you again. i love you so much.’

basically, spencer does all he can to put their worries at bay about him abandoning them.

jack tells him all about the books he’s been reading 🥺🥺 ‘i miss your funny voices. dad doesn’t do them as good.’

as soon as they get out, they go straight to dave’s. he’s thrown a party. jack’s school friends are there and all the bau is too. as soon as aaron sees spencer, he cries and hugs him so tight!! they’re both crying and kissing and they don’t even care who sees them.

“i missed you,” kiss “i love you so much,” kiss “thank you for waiting,” kiss “i’ll never leave again.” kiss

my favourite trope is one of them being oblivious that they’re dating while the other one has been taking them out for months 🥺

the real question though is who is the oblivious one? 🤔 i know most people go with spencer buttt can we imagine if it was aaron 🥺

i watched season 7 episode 21 today and at the end aaron kinda nudges spencer to stop him from one of his rambles and i just find that so domestic and adorable i think i repeated that scene ten times at least 🥺🥺🥺

imagine aaron and spencer raising jack to wear whatever he wants. he wears some pretty skirts that aunty penny buys him (he loves her dresses 🥺) but then one day he stops. aaron and spencer know it has to be because of somebody at school but jack won’t say :((

they try to encourage him because it makes him happy. they buy him some plainer skirts - a light blue rather than a plaid yellow - but he puts them in the back of his closet.

then years later penelope comes to aaron and spencer and shows them something she found on instagram. jack’s second account. he uses the name john chetrack (an anagram of jack hotchner, spencer is secretly proud) and he posts pics of him wearing cute outfits but never showing his face. sometimes it’s skirts and his boots, sometimes it’s a shirt with one of aaron’s ties. (aaron knew he was loosing his ties but couldn’t figure out where they went.)
