Friday, March 27: Accept, "Sounds of War"
Udo Dirkschneider at first tried to sing before giving up and going all-in on madman shrieking, yet his early attempts at carrying a tune weren’t much less hysterical. “Sounds of War” was one of the heavier tracks on Accept’s first album and showed traces of what they would become, though it was still Dirkschneider that drew most of the attention- he was presumably trying to show his command but mostly sounded confused and a little scared. Wolf Hoffmann was likewise finding his way as a guitarist and the low-rent production made everything sound overly stuffy, but there was promise in the track even if Udo didn’t have it together just yet.
